PACAC’s colorful Eid-ul-Adha Party in Sacramento

The Pak-American Cultural & Arts Council held a colorful evening to celebrate Eid ul-Adha on November 10, 2012 at the Kabab Corner Restaurant in West Sacramento.

The event was made even more joyous when Mr.Javaid Akhtar wished everyone Eid Mubarak and announced that everyone attending the program tonight is his personal guest. Javaid Akhtar, who is a prominent and generous local businessman, is one of the top producers of Nationwide insurance in Sacramento area and he paid total cost of the whole banquet program.Urdu News 11-14-2012

Naeem Syed, a prominent personality of Greater Sacramento was the MC of the event. He charmed the guests with his witty style.

Keeping its tradition, the program included recitation of poetry by Urdu lovers and presentation of popular Karaoki songs. Punjabi poetry was also present.

The participants included: Aftab Javaid, Dr. Irfan ul Haq,  Dr. Shaista Raouf, Durriya Syed, Hafiz Aamir Hussain, Haq Nawaz, Javid  Iqbal, Maqsood Ali, Mir Shams Nazir,  Rukhsana Riaz, Shahid Hussain of Ary TV, Shahid Khan, Shehzad Basir, Syed Mahmood Haque, Zahoor Ahmad, Khalid Saeed and Abdus Sattar Ghazali.

Shehzad Basir a well known Faiz Ahmad Faiz lover, is also big fan of THE Boss Bruce Springsteen. Shehzad Basir  presented ghazals by Faiz and a Springsteen song, ‘Human Touch’.

Elizabeth Kim & Paul were special guests at the event and talked about this cultural event and their friendship with our community.

Javaid  Akhtar of Nationwide Insurance Sacramento, who recently returned after performing Hajj, read a piece from Mumtaz Mufti’s book – Labbaik – about his experience of Hajj.

Duriya Syed captivated the audience with her presentation of “a letter to the Pakistani daughters who left the country to settle abroad.”

Khalid Saeed, first read his own Urdu and Punjabi ghazals and then later stole the show with his melodious presentations of few popular old songs on Karaoke.

Another very interesting and loved feature of the event was Bulleh Shah’s Kafi and other Karaoke songs by Javaid Iqbal of Granit Bay.

Kudos to ‘Kabab Corner’ Restaurant of West Sacramento, and special thanks to Hafeez sahib and the Chef Hafiz sahib for their delicious menu. Everyone who attended the event was raving about the quality and the taste of the food and specially the best Naan in town.
