Another memorable cultural evening of PAAC

The Pak American Arts Council of Greater Sacramento held a memorable cultural evening on Sept. 14, 2013 at the Kabab Corner. The event attracted a large crowd from far and near.PAAC 9-14-2013 (29)

Naeem Syed and Khalid Saeed were MCs of the program which included poetry, singing and anecdotal talk which amused the audience.

Maqsood Ali began the program with the recitation of poetry of Allama Iqbal, Kabhi Ay Haqiqat-e-Muntazir Nazar Aa Libaas-e-Majaz MeiN.

Dr. Nirmal Mann, a popular poet of Greater Sacramento, presented his poetry in his unique style and drew wide applause.

Durriya Syed, who recently returned from Pakistan, presented a poem regarding her encounter with Abdul Sattar Edhi and Bilqees Edhi who now symbolize the humanitarian work globally.

Shehzad Basir drew wide applause with the presentation of Faiz Ahmed Faiz poetry in his unique style.

Yasin Habeel, a visiting poet from Hyderabad, India, recited his insightful poetry. His poem about Money drew wide appreciation.

Haseeb Rana presented a very interesting satire titled "Iblis ka Etraaf." Iblis wrote this poem after visiting Pakistan, according to Haseeb. Iblis says that now he is ready to bow to Insan which he refused when God asked him to do so. This theme was best captured by Allama Iqbal: Hansi Aati Hai Mujhe Hazrat Insaan Par + Gunah Karta Hai Khud, Laanat Bhejta Hai Shaitan Par

Dr. Shaista Rauf amused the audience with her presentation of the poetry of Amjad Islam AmjadPAAC 9-14-2013 (15).

Javaid Iqbal thrilled the audience with Pakistani songs. Mohammad Nadeem presented a number of songs.

Nadeem Vira, crickter, recalled the memories of his college days in Lahore.

Aftab Javed first recited a ghazal of Agha Zulfiqar. In the second half he sang a Punjabi song.

Riaz Rana presented a free verse (Azaad Nazm). Mir Shams Nazir recited a ghazal of Iqbal Azeem.

Meraj Sultana Ghazali presented a popular ghazal of Mirza Ghalib, Aah Ko Chaaheye Ek Umr Asar Hone Tak. Abdus Sattar Ghazali amused the audience with a witty story and comical verses.

Dr. Firdos Pasha captivated the audience with songs in her melodious voice.

Other participant were: Shahid Khan, Taj Khan, Zahoor Chaudhry, Ras Siddiqui and Ibrar Ali.
